On Friday, a division bench of the Calcutta High Court upheld a ruling ordering the CBI to look into claims of irregularities in elementary teacher hiring. The Justices, Subrata Talukder and Lapita Banerji, who made up the division bench, also ordered that the single bench would oversee the investigation.
A CBI investigation into alleged irregularities in West Bengal’s primary teacher recruitment was ordered by Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay, and the bench upheld that decision, saying it would be important to look into the matter’s financial connections.

The court ordered that the single-bench judgement dismissing 269 appointees from their positions—who allegedly received one extra mark from the West Bengal Primary School Board—remain in effect till the single bench decides the matter.
