Today, a number of students protested the National Eligibility Test, UGC NET 2022 exam paper leak by entering the University Grants Commission building. Students urged that the National Testing Agency be removed as the organization in charge of administering the history exam, which was held on October 10.

Videos and images posted on social media show activists from the Student Federation of India (SFI) and All India Students Association (AISA) entering the UGC office with placards that read “repeal NTA’s contract of conducting exams.”

In a letter to the UGC chairman, the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students Association (JNUSU) demanded that the history exam be rescheduled, that NTA be removed as the organisation in charge of administering the test, and that an inquiry committee be established to look into the incident and take strict action against those responsible. “I must draw your immediate attention to the fact that the recently completed NET exam for history was leaked on social media before the exam’s administration. Other paper leakages that have occurred have also been reported. Aishe Ghosh, president of the JNUSU, wrote in the letter, “Such mistakes and incompetence on the part of the NTA have put the student community on a receiving end.

Earlier in July, SFI activists demonstrated in front of the UGC office in ITO, Delhi, in opposition to the NTA’s claimed improper handling of the UGC NET exam. Students yelled anti-UGC and severe action against NTA’s official slogans. SFI demanded that NTA be abolished and that the UGC continue to administer the NET tests.
