In a first, Sitare University and Shri Ramswaroop Memorial University (SRM), Lucknow, have teamed up to offer impoverished students from all around India education in computer science and technology.

The institution chose 27 students to make up the first class of 2022–26. These poor children were chosen after being thoroughly vetted and having their Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Mains results reviewed. Students from Bihar, West Bengal, Haryana, and Odisha are among the other states represented in the first batch, along with a Jharkhand student who received the highest possible JEE Mains score of 99.16 percent. The Sitare Foundation awarded scholarships to all of the chosen students, covering their tuition, accommodation, board, and book costs. A four-year bachelor of technology in computer science is available from Sitare University to its students. The degree offers five distinct speciality majors in computer security, human-computer interface, data science, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning.

Sitare University aims to train students with academic and industry internship programmes with leading companies and develop a skill set to make its students industry ready.

The former CEO of Infosys, Vishal Sikka, gave the opening address. Several startup executives addressed the necessity for skilled staff in computer science. At the opening ceremony, startups like Beans.ai, Chalo, Goqii, nCore Games, Tracxn, and Trademo took part.

The founder of Sitare University, Amit Singhal, stated during his speech that “education is the only surefire way out of poverty. Computer science education has emerged as one of the most sought-after degrees in today’s technology-driven world. Sitare University seeks to empower our nation’s bright impoverished brains by providing them with top-notch undergraduate computer science education. Sitare University is a start towards addressing this need and helping many impoverished lives by lifting people out of poverty, which is necessary for India to realise its full potential in this new era of technology.
