IITGN has revealed that they have acquired more than Rs 100 crore in charitable donations since its founding in 2008, which was 14 years ago.
The majority of those who have made donations to the Institute’s charitable projects have been non-IITGN alumni, mostly of Gujarati descent and based in India or internationally. These contributions finance student aid, scholarships for outstanding academic achievement, research support, faculty and program-specific chairs, as well as various community welfare initiatives.
IITGN’s press release stated that more than half of their graduates have given back to their alma mater in the early stages of their careers. Additionally, some of them have founded endowed scholarships to assist current students.
Rajat Moona, director of IITGN, acknowledged the success of the institute and expressed gratitude to their donors, who have made it possible by contributing more than Rs. 100 crore in philanthropic donations. He also expressed his commitment to continuously work towards the advancement of science and technology for the benefit of society.
Mukesh Shah, the managing partner of Shah Bhogilal Jethalal & Bros (AAAG India), congratulated the Institute on setting up an endowment to support academic and research excellence. He expressed his pride in being associated with the premier Institute, and said that IITGN has gained a global reputation in only 15 years and that this is just the start of its larger success story.
