In a significant move towards strengthening ties between academia and industry, Pondicherry University and MSME Technology Centre in Puducherry have formalized their collaboration through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The collaboration aims to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and its practical application by offering students certification courses, concessional in-plant training (internships), and full access to laboratories and the library during their academic programs.
Notably, the MoU guarantees Pondicherry University students the opportunity to benefit from hostel accommodations provided by the MSME Technology Centre.
The partnership extends beyond student-centric initiatives, encompassing mutual resource sharing, joint research and development (R&D) efforts, and various other measures to bolster the interaction between academia and industry.
Shri. Amit Nain, Deputy General Manager of MSME Technology Centre, expressed the significance of this collaboration, emphasizing its commitment to nurturing students and reinforcing the connection between academia and industry. He stated, “This collaboration is not just an agreement on paper; it’s a commitment to fostering the future of our students and strengthening the bond between academia and industry.”
Prof. B. Charumathi, MoU coordinator from the Department of Management Studies at Pondicherry University, highlighted the vast opportunities and access to world-class facilities that this MoU brings to the students, marking a new chapter in the university’s pursuit of excellence.
The MoU signing ceremony had Prof. Gurmeet Singh, Vice Chancellor of Pondicherry University, as the Chief Guest. In attendance were other university officials, Deans, and Heads of Departments, as well as Mr. Murali, Principal Director, and officials from the MSME Technology Centre.
The MoU is effective for three years from the signing date, ensuring a sustained collaboration that promises to benefit both institutions and, most importantly, the students who represent the future workforce of the nation.
