For the academic year 2022–2023, the Uttar Pradesh government has agreed to transfer money directly to the bank accounts of parents of students in grades one through eight so they can purchase uniforms and other supplies. The choice was made on Tuesday during a state cabinet meeting presided over by the chief minister, Yogi Adityanath.
“Parents of students in classes one through eight at government primary, upper primary, and aided schools will get money straight into their accounts for the academic session 2022–23 to purchase uniforms, sweaters, shoes, socks, school bags, and stationery,” an official spokeswoman said here. The representative did not, however, disclose the precise sum that will be deposited into the parents’ bank accounts.
A proposal to give advance financial clearance for the total amount needed to buy these things each year without first waiting for the Centre’s contribution was also approved by the cabinet. About two crore kids are expected to profit from this programme during the academic year 2022–2023, according to officials.
Additionally, the chief minister was given permission by the cabinet to decide on any future procedure or tariff modification. According to the officials, shoes, socks, sweaters, and school bags are provided from the state budget while uniforms are distributed free of charge to pupils in classes one through eight in all government and aided primary and pre-secondary institutions of the state.
