The National Medical Commission (NMC) has released a list of Georgian universities where Ukrainian-returned Indian medical students can enrol for MBBS under the Academic Mobility Program. The Commission recently published a list of nations where Indian medical students from Ukraine might seek to finish their education. The NMC permitted Indian medical students to relocate and finish their courses at universities abroad. An official announcement from NMC states that students can enrol at New Vision University in Georgia, BAU International University in Batumi, and Georgian National University in SEU.
The details of fees and medium of instruction of these universities are given below:
University | Country | Fee (in US Dollars) | Medium of instruction |
BAU International University, Batumi | Georgia | 6500 USD | English |
Georgian National University, SEU | Georgia | 5500 USD | English |
New Vision University | Georgia | 7000 USD | English |
The NMC statement continued, “Since the aforementioned information is dynamic in nature, any other supplementary information will be distributed for all as and when received from the Ministry of External Affairs. The NMC made it clear that this list is for the benefit of Indian medical students who are studying in Ukraine and is not in any manner the Indian government’s obligation. In collaboration with the Ministries of Health and Family Welfare and Foreign Affairs, the Commission released a list of universities. The Supreme Court recently recommended that the Center help medical students by developing a website listing information on overseas institutions where they could finish their degrees in accordance with the government’s academic mobility scheme.
The top court’s recommendation came after the Centre claimed that India’s medical colleges were unable to accept students due to a lack of legal requirements. As the certificate of completion or degree is anticipated to be provided by the parent institutions in Ukraine, NMC issued a “No objection for Academic Mobility Programme by Ukraine” stating that NMC would accept completion of their remaining courses in other countries. It was made clear that the term “global mobility” cannot be taken to suggest that these students can be accommodated in Indian colleges or universities.
