The Vice President, M. Venkaiah Naidu, stated on Tuesday that the National Education Policy-2020 will change the game by reorganising the nation’s higher educational institutions to meet the evolving needs of the knowledge economy.

Speaking to a crowd after kicking off the Hansraj College of Delhi University’s 75th-anniversary festivities, Naidu noted that education must liberate, enlighten, and empower people in order for the country to advance as a whole. “The National Education Policy-2020 is expected to change the way that education is practised. The NEP intends to reform the nation’s higher educational institutions in order to meet the evolving needs of the information economy by laying out an intricate, multi-layered roadmap for educational institutions to follow “said he. “The policy will turn out to be revolutionary. I am pleased to read that the Delhi University will begin implementing NEP-2020 this semester “Added he.

The 34-year-old National Policy on Education, created in 1986, is replaced by the NEP, which was approved by the Union Cabinet. Its goal is to pave the ground for radical changes to the school and higher education institutions, transforming India into a superpower of knowledge. The new NEP includes several higher education reforms, including the option to choose between three or four-year undergraduate programmes, multiple entry and exit options in degree programmes, the addition of 3,5 crore seats in institutions of higher learning, which will now have a single regulator, the discontinuation of MPhil programmes, and fee fixation.

In his speech, Naidu emphasised the need of making high-quality education available and affordable to everyone and claimed that education is the key to national growth. The Platinum Jubilee celebrations officially kick off with the opening ceremony, which will be followed by a number of academic and cultural activities to remember this momentous year. Naidu advised educators to include the true history of India, its culture, tradition, folk arts, languages, dialects, and fundamental Indian values into their lessons and curricula.

“It is admirable that the college is so dedicated to preserving the splendour and depth of Indian culture. I’ve been informed that there is a separate library of rare Vedic literature and texts in addition to the college’s main library, which has modern amenities and resources. I was also happy to learn that every month, students, faculty, and staff participate in Yagya “said he.

On July 26, 1948, the DAV organisation built Hansraj College, one of the top universities connected to the University of Delhi. The modern college complex was officially opened by Bharat Ratna Dr Rajendra Prasad, the first President of India. The vice president praised Hansraj Campus’s dedication to preserving the “richness and grandeur” of Indian culture and expressed delight that the moral compass of the college is shaped by the ideals of Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati and Mahatma Hansraj.
