The vice-chancellors of nine institutions received notifications from Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan on Monday after they disobeyed his order to deliver him their resignation papers by 11:30 a.m. on Sunday. This information was made available to the public by the state’s governor, who also serves as chancellor of its colleges. They are still standing there and won’t go. Khan declared that the official notices have now been delivered at a nearby press conference. He claimed that the notices were released in support of the Supreme Court’s decision, which stated that any vice-chancellor appointment made in accordance with the search committee’s recommendations was “void ab initio” due to the search committee’s formation having violated the rules of the University Grants Commission (UGC).
When Khan was questioned about the specifics of the show-cause notices, he responded, “Now, it is in the light of the Supreme Court ruling why I should not declare your appointment “invalid ab initio.” The vice-chancellors, according to him, have until November 3 to answer. Khan further contradicted the chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s claims that the VCs were not given access to natural justice. “I merely advised a moral course of action. In a protracted press conference held to address the Chief Minister’s accusations against him, the governor stated, “I have not fired them.
