The Vice President of India, Jagdeep Dhankhar, is set to be the guest of honour at the 68th convocation ceremony of IIT Kharagpur on December 24th, a spokesperson of the institute announced on Sunday. Additionally, Rajendra Prasad Singh, the chairperson of IIT Kharagpur’s board of governors, will also attend the event, the spokesperson added.
This year, IIT Kharagpur will be honoring Professor Brij K Dhindaw with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his service in the Teaching and Research Faculty of the Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Department (Material Science Centre) between 1966-2009.
Professor Dhindaw played an essential role in launching a master’s program in medical science and technology for individuals holding MBBS qualifications, and a post-graduate diploma course in steel technology, funded by industry, at IIT Kharagpur.
IIT Kharagpur has recently concluded the initial stage of their 2022 placement season, during which they offered over 1,600 jobs and 900 internships. The highest salary offer was Rs 2.46 crore. The institute recorded 48 offers within the salary range of Rs 50 lakh to Rs 2.64 crore, with over 45 offers from international companies.
