Today, December 9, 2022, the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IITR) launched its second incubation and innovation center at IITR’s Greater Noida extension facility, iHUB DivyaSampark.
iHub Divysampark will be concentrating on deep-tech and developing technologies such as AI, ML, robotics, drones, IoT, blockchain, and smart devices. This facility aims to provide aid to budding business owners in up-and-coming technologies in accordance with India’s Atmanirbhar mission. The centers have offered backing to 16 start-ups with an investment of Rs 8 crore and is aiming to assist 30 start-ups with a total investment of Rs 15 crore in the next 12 months.
iHub is currently offering instruction in advanced technologies to college students located in the NCR area, with 300 individuals having already been trained. This endeavour, known as iHUB DivyaSampark, was created as part of the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (NMiCPS) mission under the auspices of the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and IIT Roorkee, as a non-profit organization. The main areas of focus for iHub Divyasmapark are Smart City, Digital Health, and Industry 4.0.
At the inauguration, KK Pant, Director of IIT Roorkee, voiced his belief that deep tech startups will be a major factor in India’s development over the coming decade. He noted that IIT Roorkee is dedicated to helping create an innovative ecosystem in India. It is very satisfying to see that iHub Divyasampark technology hub, in addition to its main location in IIT Roorkee, is now based in the NCR region to help innovators and startups from surrounding colleges. Prof. Pant went on to say that over the last 12 months, iHUB DivyaSampark has aided 16 startups with a total funding of 8 Cr and is planning to back an additional 30 startups with a total funding of 15 Cr over the next 12 months.
At the event, Manish Anand, CEO of iHub Divyasampark, commented that the Greater Noida center was created with the goal of aiding innovators from smaller colleges. As a result of these efforts, two startups affiliated with the center have been selected as the 30 most promising deep tech startups of 2022 by YourStory at its TechSparks event. iHub is soon launching an accelerator program to assist businesses that have gone beyond the seed fund phase. Additionally, the center has been providing deep technology training to college students in the NCR area and 300 have been trained thus far.
