IIT Kanpur is hosting the 12th annual COPEN12 International Conference on Precision, Micro, Meso, and Nano Engineering from December 8th to 10th, 2022.

The COPEN12 event focuses on three topics: precision engineering, processing and measurement techniques, and intelligent manufacturing. Its purpose is to unite the young Indian manufacturing sector. So far, a total of 215 submissions have been made, 175 of which have been accepted.

At the conference, over 300 attendees from the industry, international community, government labs, faculty, and students are expected. Furthermore, 15 invited talks from technical experts both domestically and internationally, as well as three keynote addresses from industry personnel, will be conducted to present issues and explore potential solutions.

The keynote addresses will have three different tracks of presentation- alpha-track to exhibit posters demonstrating preliminary research and development work; beta-track consisting of a 4-page paper that features research that has achieved a certain level of completion; and delta-track to present enhancements to research that has been published in renowned international journals in the last 12 months.

The COPEN12 conference has been provided assistance from a number of institutions, including SERB, DRDO, BARC, ISRO, UPCST, IIT Guwahati, CMTI, and Lohia Corp.

At the inaugural session of IIT Kanpur, Director Abhay Karandikar commented on the advances in the manufacturing sector in recent years and the potential for India to become self-sufficient and a manufacturing leader. He believes this conference will provide an ideal platform for those attending to come up with solutions to foster the Skill India and Make in India initiatives, particularly in the manufacturing industry.
