According to Subhas Sarkar, the minister of state for education, the government has instructed the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi to investigate the feasibility of opening a campus in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Following a virtual summit between the leaders of the two nations on February 18, the Joint India-UAE Vision Statement read: “The leaders agreed to build an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in the United Arab Emirates.”
The Centre then asked the IIT Delhi to investigate the viability of setting up a campus in the UAE, the minister added. “The Indian Ambassador to the UAE was asked by IIT Delhi to locate and schedule a meeting with the appropriate UAE officials. The Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) was recognised as the pertinent UAE body as a result “said he.
Both parties presented presentations regarding their respective companies and expressed a desire to further this project at the inaugural ADEK-IITD meeting, according to Sarkar. The second meeting featured presentations on Abu Dhabi’s economic vision and research priorities by representatives from ADEK, the Department of Economic Development, and the Advanced Technology Research Council, respectively, the minister stated. He said, “The IIT Delhi gave a presentation on the mentoring strategy used by the older IITs and discussed its experiences in mentoring the IIT Ropar and IIT Jammu.
