Convocations are held twice a year by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), and they are an essential occasion for newly qualified Chartered Accountants (CA). The conference for this year took place on October 6, 2022, in 14 sites in India.
In addition to providing rank holders of the ICCA final examination with rank certificates, around 20,000 newly enlisted members also received their membership certificates. In Delhi, membership certificates and rank certificates were given to more than 2,600 members. Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, and Textiles served as the convocation’s special guest. The Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, and Textiles, Piyush Goyal, addressed the audience and congratulated newly registered Chartered Accountants on reaching this milestone. “The Chartered Accountants are Ambassadors of our fine profession, keeping their head high as the nation progress forward,” the Minister declared.
It is a matter of great pride for all CAs for serving the noblest profession across the country and abroad.”
As a bridge between the government, tax-paying businesses, and individuals, chartered accountants serve as “ambassadors of any country’s economic system.” Therefore, the bi-annual Convocation aims to welcome new CAs into the exclusive brotherhood of Chartered Accountants and provide them a sense of community within the university and the profession. Debashis Mitra, President of ICAI, adds “ICAI was founded in 1949 with approximately 1,700 members. Today, with more than 3.6 lakh members, it is the second-largest accounting organisation in the world. With more than 7.6 lakh students, ICAI has 166 branches nationwide and five Regional Councils. It has also established 33 Representative offices and 44 Chapters outside of India.
For more than 73 years, the ICAI has developed a sizable group of accountants who are crucial to the economy, industry, business, and good governance of the nation. In order to ensure that it recruits young minds with knowledge, intellect, experience, and command on every topic covered by Chartered Accountancy, it strives to give thorough training and maintain high standards in tests.
