On October 19, 2022, Dharmendra Pradhan, the union minister of education, will begin a public consultation on the National Credit Framework (NCrF). Today, the group creating the National Credit Framework for schooling, higher education, and skills met at a high level under the leadership of Pradhan. At the meeting, senior members of the education and skill development ministries, including Anita Karwal, secretary for school education; Sanjay Murthy, secretary for higher education; Nirmaljeet Singh Kalsi, chairman of the National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET), and others, attended.
Introducing NCrF from Class 5 to PhD is something the Ministry of Education intends to do. For assessment purposes, the credit framework will take into account both academic and extracurricular activities like sports, yoga, and music.

A high-level committee that included representatives from the ministry of skill development, the directorate general of training (DGT), and NCVET, as well as the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), National Council for Educational Research and Training (NCERT), National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), and UGC, AICTE, drafted the NCrF. In November of last year, the government gave its approval for the creation of a high-level committee to create a National Credit Accumulation and Transfer Framework for both general and vocational education. In a statement released by the government, it was stated that the Credit Framework will “allow the integration of academic and occupational domains or components of learning and ensure flexibility and mobility between the two.”
