Delhi University asks college heads to counsel students for suicide prevention.

Days after a Zakir Hussain College student is said to have committed suicide, Delhi University on Friday asked college heads to periodically counsel students and educate them on the value of human life. Rajni Abbi, the DU Proctor, has stated in an advisory that it has been observed at the university that certain students cannot handle the pressure and are committing suicide.

“All heads, directors, principals, provosts, and wardens are instructed to periodically counsel their students and emphasise the worth and significance of human life,” said Abbi. She also mentioned instances in which students have threatened suicide in the proctor’s office for trivial matters.
