The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2023 January session exam is scheduled to commence in the upcoming week. The examination will include BE and BTech papers (paper 1), BArch (paper 2A) and BPlanning (paper 2B). Paper 1, which is for BE, BTech, will contain questions from Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.

The JEE Main 2023 exam pattern for the BE, BTech paper consists of 90 questions in total, with 30 from each of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The exam will be divided into two sections; Section A will consist of multiple-choice questions and Section B will require the answer to be filled in as a numerical value, with any five out of the 10 questions to be attempted.

In Section B, the test taker must enter the answer to each question using the mouse and an on-screen numeric keypad, rounded to the nearest whole number. The answer should be placed in the designated area.

JEE Main 2023 marking scheme

Negative marking will be in effect for both Section A and Section B of the JEE Main 2023. Each correct answer will result in four marks being awarded, while one mark will be subtracted for any incorrect answers. No points will be given for any questions that are left unanswered or marked for review.

For JEE Main 2023, if multiple answers are right, then those who have selected any of the correct options will get four marks. If all options are correct, then those who have attempted the question will receive four marks.

If it is determined that none of the choices are correct, or a question is incorrect or omitted, all candidates who took the test will receive full marks regardless of whether or not they attempted the question.
