The Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IIT-H) experienced a surge in placements for the academic year of 2022, with a total of 508 offers from 144 companies in the first phase of campus placements from December 1 to 7. This year, approximately 700 students from various departments registered for placements.
In the first phase of IIT Hyderabad placements, a total of 54 international offers were made by 13 different companies. The entire placement process at IIT-H was carried out in a hybrid manner, allowing corporate entities to conduct interviews either virtually or in-person, at their own discretion.
IIT Hyderabad’s first graduating batch of BTech in the AI department has had an impressive 82 percent placement rate in the initial week of placements, which is a marked increase from the 46 international offers from last year. Additionally, the number of students opting for semester-long internships has also gone up to 51, compared to 33 from the previous year.
The main sectors that saw a high demand for recruitment included engineering, IT and software, finance and consulting. The maximum salary offered at IIT Hyderabad was Rs 63.78 lakh, and the average package was Rs 19.49 lakh. At the start of the placement season, the institute received 99 pre-placement offers as opposed to the 82 they received last year. The second phase of IIT Hyderabad’s placement process will continue in January 2023.
B S Murty, director of IIT Hyderabad, was thrilled with the strongest placement season yet and remarked, “We are dedicated to producing graduates who have the skills and knowledge to make a successful transition into their desired careers. The last two years have seen the implementation of initiatives such as the BTech Internship and Interdisciplinary MTech, all of which have contributed to our placement success. We are continually striving to ensure our students are prepared to fulfill their aspirations.”
Abhinav Kumar, IIT Hyderabad’s faculty in-charge from the office of career services, expressed his pleasure at the commencement of the placement season at IITH, commenting that the OCS student team and staff had collaborated to ensure successful Phase-1 of campus placements.
