Assam school teacher suspended for sexually abusing student

A school teacher in Assam’s Kamrup district was reportedly suspended on Monday after being accused of sexually assaulting a student there, according to an official report. The source claims that a police complaint had been filed at Rangia Police Station against the accused, an assistant teacher employed by a government school, under various sections of the IPC and the POCSO Act. The instructor received a show-cause notice from Apurba Thakuria, the Kamrup Inspector of Schools, on October 14.

The official said, “But he didn’t respond to the show cause notice until the suspension order was issued. According to Thakuria’s order dated October 15, the assistant instructor was suspended immediately pending departmental proceedings.
