At a ceremony here on October 16, the ambitious scheme by the Madhya Pradesh government to provide medical education in Hindi will be unveiled by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, a senior minister announced on Friday. According to state Medical Education Minister Vishvas Sarang, the Union Home Minister will present the Hindi medical education textbooks at a ceremony at Motilal Nehru stadium. Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the chief minister, said Thursday while evaluating the program’s preparations. “It was a campaign to instil a sense of pride in one’s mother language as well as a historic occasion to alter public perception.” This will serve as an illustration showing that specialised topic matter can be taught in Hindi in addition to English. “
Chouhan further said that apart from medical education, engineering, nursing and paramedical courses will also be taught in Hindi in the state in days to come.
The chief minister gave instructions to ensure that the programme will involve the greatest possible number of people, particularly Hindi professionals, in order to change people’s attitudes regarding the language. Speaking of the curriculum, Sarang said, “Students in the first year of MBBS will be handed these books. The first volume of books for disciplines like physiology, biochemistry, and anatomy are available.” He added that the second volume of these books was being created and that textbooks for the three disciplines had been prepared by a team of experts.
“Technical phrases like blood pressure, spine, heart, kidney, and liver or other significant body components and related terms are written in Hindi as they are spoken in English in books that are being created in this manner. In English, they will likewise be written in brackets, according to Sarang, the project’s driving force. According to him, the textbooks are written so that students of MBBS in Hindi won’t fall behind once the course is through because they will learn all the technical and medical terms in both English and Hindi. According to the minister, students are mostly taught about physiology, anatomy, and biochemistry in the first year.
