Police reported on Tuesday that a 19-year-old West Bengali medical student committed suicide by jumping to her death from the fourth floor of a hotel in Jharkhand’s Hazaribag district after being rejected by a female. The man, a native of West Bengal’s Bankura area, was enrolled in a medical school in Bengaluru. According to the police, he met the Chatra girl, who was a student in Hazaribag town, when she moved to West Bengal’s Purulia district for a one-year course. On Sunday, the male arrived at the hotel with the intention of meeting the girl. They claimed that she finally consented to seeing him at the hotel on Monday night after further prodding.

Soon after, he began extorting money from her and pressuring her to accept him as her lover. She attempted to flee but was unsuccessful because the door was closed, they said, and she began screaming. The hotel personnel tried to open the door after hearing her screams, but they were unable. Meanwhile, according to Sub-Divisional Police Officer (Sadar) Mahesh Prajapati, the man hurt the girl by breaking a glass. The officer speculated that the man may have leapt out the window out of fear of being turned over to the authorities. While the girl was admitted to the Hazaribag Medical College and Hospital, he passed away there.

According to Prajapati, he met the girl at the hospital, where she is receiving care and is safe. She told the authorities that the girl and the man used to speak on the phone frequently. Mandi’s clothing and other items have been taken, and the hotel room has been locked off, according to the officer. According to him, a post-mortem examination of the body and an investigation are both underways.
