The Delhi Commission for Women has sent notices to Miranda House at Delhi University and the municipal police as a result of allegations that men scaled college fences to view an open Diwali festival on campus and engaged in “cat-calling and sexist sloganeering.”
Swati Maliwal, the head of DCW, questioned the college’s on-site security measures. “Men are scaling barriers to force their way inside Miranda House, one of Delhi’s most well-known institutions, for the Diwali festival. The ladies have made serious charges of molestation and harassment. We are notifying the college administration and Delhi Police of the situation. How did this act of vandalism occur? What were security measures in place? “She stated in a Hindi tweet.
The all-female college students posted a number of videos on social media in which some men can be seen allegedly scaling the perimeter wall, prowling around the campus, and shouting things. According to the police, there hasn’t been a single complaint about the incident to date. But in response to the social media footage, they stated that “some kids (3-4) were trying to enter the campus” but that they were stopped and that the October 14 Diwali programme was “incident-free”. Despite repeated attempts, the college administration remained silent.
